EU to SA size conversion, how to measure yourself, and what sizes we carry in store. Sizes 46 to 66 EU available at Glory Room Boutique, Pretoria.
EU suit sizes are based on half the chest measurement in centimetres. A EU 50 suit is designed for a chest of approximately 98 to 101 cm. This is the sizing system used across most European and South African menswear boutiques, including all our collections at Glory Room.
SA and UK sizes use a different scale, derived from chest measurements in inches. EU 50 corresponds roughly to a SA/UK size 40. Most South African chain stores label suits using SA/UK sizing, which can cause confusion when shopping at a boutique that stocks EU-labelled garments. The table below maps all sizes clearly.
| EU Size | Chest cm | Waist cm | SA/UK Approx | Build Guide |

| 46 | 90–93 | 80–83 | 36 | Slim build |

Use a soft tape measure. Stand naturally, do not hold your breath or pull the tape tight.
If your chest measurement sits between two EU sizes, size up. Jacket bodies can be taken in by a tailor more easily than they can be let out. The chest is the hardest part of a suit to alter: get the chest right first and adjust the waist if needed.
Trouser length can always be shortened. Trouser waist can be taken in or let out a size. These are inexpensive, standard alterations any tailor in Pretoria can do.

Ask us about sizing on WhatsAppEU suit sizes refer to the chest measurement in centimetres divided by two. A EU 50 suit is designed for a chest of approximately 98 to 101 cm. SA and UK sizes use a different scale: EU 50 corresponds roughly to a SA/UK size 40. At Glory Room we stock EU 46 to 66, which covers SA/UK 36 to 56. All our size labels use EU sizing.
A correctly fitting suit has the collar sitting flat against the shirt without gaps, the jacket shoulders ending exactly at the edge of your natural shoulder, the chest button closing without pulling or gaping, and the jacket length ending at the base of your thumb when your arms hang naturally. The trousers should sit at the natural waist without a belt being required to hold them up. Come in and we will check every point before you leave.
Standard alterations are available through reputable tailors in Pretoria. Common adjustments include trouser length, trouser waist suppression, and sleeve shortening. These cost between R80 and R350 depending on the work required. We can recommend tailors near Pretoria East on request. More significant alterations such as taking in the body of a jacket are possible but more costly: the best outcome is always to start with the closest possible off-the-rack size.
